Pharmacology:
Cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3) is a fat-soluble vitamin that helps in the absorption of calcium and phosphorus in the intestine. It plays a key role in maintaining bone structure and immune function.
Dosage:
Common adult dose: 400 IU to 5000 IU daily, depending on deficiency status
Severe deficiency: As per physician's guidance
Administration:
Oral, with or without food
Best absorbed with a meal containing fat
Interaction:
May interact with anticonvulsants, corticosteroids, and weight-loss medications
Use with thiazide diuretics may increase hypercalcemia risk
Contraindications:
Hypercalcemia
