Deslor is indicated for the relief of symptoms associated with:
Seasonal allergic rhinitis
Perennial allergic rhinitis
Chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives)
Deslor contains Desloratadine, a long-acting tricyclic antihistamine that selectively blocks peripheral H1-receptors. It prevents the action of histamine, a chemical responsible for allergic symptoms, without causing significant drowsiness.
Adults & adolescents (≥12 years): 5 mg once daily
Children (6-11 years): 2.5 mg once daily
Or as prescribed by the physician
To be taken orally with or without food. Take at the same time daily for consistent effect.
Desloratadine has minimal interaction with other drugs. However, inform your physician if you're using:
Erythromycin
Ketoconazole
Fluoxetine
Alcohol (may increase drowsiness slightly in some people)
Known hypersensitivity to Desloratadine or Loratadine
Severe renal impairment (dose adjustment may be needed)
Generally well tolerated. Possible side effects include:
Dry mouth
Headache
Fatigue
Drowsiness (rare)
Use only if clearly necessary and under a physician’s advice. Minimal excretion in breast milk.
Use cautiously in patients with renal or hepatic impairment.
Although non-drowsy, be careful during activities requiring alertness.
Not a substitute for epinephrine in acute anaphylaxis.
