MYCEPT 500 MG is indicated for preventing rejection of transplanted organs such as kidney, heart, or liver, and treating autoimmune diseases like lupus nephritis.
Pharmacology:
Mycophenolate mofetil suppresses the immune system by inhibiting inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase, an enzyme necessary for the proliferation of lymphocytes (T and B cells), thereby reducing immune-mediated damage.
Dosage:
Dosage depends on the condition and doctor’s prescription, commonly 1 to 3 grams daily divided into two doses.
Administration:
Take orally with or without food. Consistent use is essential for therapeutic effect.
Interaction:
May interact with antacids, cholestyramine, other immunosuppressants, and vaccines. Inform your healthcare provider about all medicines you take.
Contraindications:
Not to be used in patients allergic to Mycophenolate mofetil, pregnant women, or those with active serious infections.
Side Effects:
Possible side effects include gastrointestinal discomfort, infections, leukopenia, anemia, and increased risk of malignancies.
