BISTEN 2.5 MG is indicated for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) and angina pectoris (chest pain). It helps reduce cardiac workload by blocking beta-adrenergic receptors, leading to decreased heart rate and blood pressure, which improves heart function.

Pharmacology:
BISTEN contains Bisoprolol, a selective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker. It reduces the effects of adrenaline and noradrenaline on the heart, slowing heart rate, reducing myocardial oxygen demand, and lowering blood pressure, which helps in controlling hypertension and preventing angina attacks.

Dosage:
Typical dosage starts at 2.5 mg once daily. Depending on the patient's response and doctor's advice, the dose may be adjusted. It is important to follow the prescribed dose and not to stop the medication abruptly.

Administration:
Take BISTEN 2.5 MG orally, preferably at the same time each day. It can be taken with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water.

Interaction:
BISTEN may interact with other cardiovascular drugs, calcium channel blockers, antiarrhythmics, and certain antidepressants. Inform your doctor about all medications you are using to avoid adverse interactions.

Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with severe bradycardia, heart block greater than first degree, cardiogenic shock, and severe asthma or bronchospastic conditions. Not suitable for those allergic to bisoprolol.

Side Effects:
Common side effects include fatigue, dizziness, cold extremities, and slow heartbeat. Less common but serious effects can include worsening heart failure, bronchospasm, and hypotension. Consult a doctor if you experience severe side effects.

Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed and prescribed by a doctor. Bisoprolol passes into breast milk; therefore, caution is advised during breastfeeding.
