BISTEN 5 MG is prescribed primarily for hypertension (high blood pressure) management and angina (chest pain). It helps relax blood vessels by blocking calcium channels, reducing resistance to blood flow and lowering blood pressure, which reduces the risk of heart attacks and strokes.

Pharmacology:
BISTEN 5 MG contains Amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker. It inhibits the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle cells, leading to vasodilation (widening of blood vessels). This decreases peripheral vascular resistance and myocardial oxygen demand, improving cardiac function and blood pressure control.

Dosage:
The usual starting dose is 5 mg once daily. Depending on patient response, the dose may be adjusted up to 10 mg daily. Always follow your doctor’s instructions.

Administration:
Take BISTEN 5 MG orally with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water, preferably at the same time each day.

Interaction:
BISTEN 5 MG may interact with other blood pressure medications, grapefruit juice (which can increase drug levels), and medications affecting liver enzymes. Inform your doctor of all medicines you use.

Contraindications:
Not recommended for patients with severe hypotension, cardiogenic shock, or known allergy to Amlodipine. Use caution in patients with liver impairment or heart failure.

Side Effects:
Common side effects include swelling of ankles or feet, dizziness, flushing, headache, and palpitations. Serious side effects are rare but can include severe hypotension or allergic reactions. Seek medical help if severe side effects occur.

Pregnancy & Lactation:
Pregnancy: Use only if clearly needed and prescribed by a healthcare provider.
Lactation: Limited data; consult your doctor before use during breastfeeding.
