Description

• রেজিস্টার্ড চিকিৎসকের পরামর্শ মোতাবেক ঔষধ সেবন করুন।

Indications:

FEMIPIL is indicated for use as an oral contraceptive to prevent unwanted pregnancy. It is also sometimes used to regulate menstrual cycles, reduce menstrual cramps, and treat acne in women of reproductive age.

Pharmacology:

FEMIPIL contains two active hormonal components:

  • Ethinylestradiol (30 mcg): A synthetic estrogen.

  • Levonorgestrel (150 mcg): A synthetic progestogen.

These hormones work together to prevent ovulation (release of an egg), thicken cervical mucus to inhibit sperm movement, and alter the uterine lining to prevent implantation. These mechanisms together ensure effective contraception.

Dosage:

One tablet daily at the same time each day, ideally starting on the first day of menstruation or as directed by a physician. Each pack typically contains 21 active tablets followed by a 7-day tablet-free interval or placebo tablets (depending on the formulation).

Administration:

  • Take orally with water.

  • Maintain a fixed schedule daily.

  • Do not skip doses to ensure contraceptive efficacy.

  • If a dose is missed, follow the instructions provided with the product or consult a healthcare provider.

Interaction:

Drug interactions may occur with:

  • Certain antibiotics (e.g., rifampicin)

  • Anticonvulsants (e.g., phenytoin, carbamazepine)

  • Antifungals (e.g., griseofulvin)

  • HIV medications (e.g., ritonavir)

These may reduce contraceptive effectiveness. Use additional protection if advised.

Contraindications:

  • Known or suspected pregnancy

  • History of thromboembolic disorders

  • Severe liver disease

  • Hormone-sensitive cancers (e.g., breast or endometrial cancer)

  • Undiagnosed abnormal vaginal bleeding

  • Allergy to any component of the product

Side Effects:

Common: Nausea, breast tenderness, headache, weight changes, mood changes.
Serious: Blood clots, hypertension, liver dysfunction. Seek medical help if symptoms like severe leg pain, chest pain, vision problems, or jaundice appear.

Pregnancy & Lactation:

  • Pregnancy: Contraindicated during pregnancy.

  • Lactation: Not recommended during breastfeeding as hormones can pass into breast milk and may affect milk production and infant development.

Combined Oral Contraceptives (COCs)
