Description

• রেজিস্টার্ড চিকিৎসকের পরামর্শ মোতাবেক ঔষধ সেবন করুন।

Indications:

MINICON is indicated for:

  • Regular use as a progestin-only contraceptive pill (POP)

  • Emergency contraception within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse (in some formulations)

It helps prevent pregnancy by stopping the release of an egg (ovulation), thickening cervical mucus to prevent sperm penetration, and making the uterine lining less suitable for implantation.

Pharmacology:

MINICON contains Levonorgestrel, a synthetic progestin that mimics the natural hormone progesterone. It acts primarily by:

  • Suppressing luteinizing hormone (LH) surge to prevent ovulation

  • Increasing cervical mucus viscosity to inhibit sperm motility

  • Altering the endometrium, making it unreceptive for implantation

Dosage:

  • Progestin-only contraceptive (daily use):
Take 1 tablet daily at the same time every day, without any breaks between packs.

  • Emergency contraception (if applicable):
Take one 1.5 mg tablet (or two 0.75 mg tablets) within 72 hours of unprotected sex.

Administration:

  • Oral administration with or without food

  • Must be taken at the same time each day for maximum efficacy

  • Missing a dose by more than 3 hours may reduce effectiveness; use backup contraception if this occurs

Interaction:

Levonorgestrel may interact with:

  • Anticonvulsants: phenytoin, carbamazepine

  • Rifampicin and rifabutin

  • St. John's Wort

  • HIV medications: ritonavir, efavirenz

These can reduce contraceptive effectiveness. Consult a doctor if using these medications.

Contraindications:
