COVERAM 4/10 is prescribed for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) and heart failure. The combination of Perindopril and Amlodipine works together to lower blood pressure, reduce the workload on the heart, and improve its ability to pump blood effectively. This medication is often used when blood pressure is not adequately controlled with a single medication.

Pharmacology:
COVERAM 4/10 contains two active ingredients:

• Perindopril: A type of ACE (angiotensin-converting enzyme) inhibitor. It works by relaxing blood vessels, which lowers blood pressure and makes it easier for the heart to pump blood. Perindopril also helps reduce strain on the heart in patients with heart failure.

• Amlodipine: A calcium channel blocker that helps relax blood vessels and improve blood flow. It works by blocking calcium from entering heart and blood vessel cells, which helps lower blood pressure and relieve symptoms of chest pain (angina).

Both ingredients work synergistically to control high blood pressure and improve heart function, making the combination particularly effective in managing conditions like hypertension and heart failure.

Dosage:
The usual dose for adults with hypertension or heart failure is one tablet (4 mg Perindopril / 10 mg Amlodipine) once daily, as prescribed by the doctor. The dose may be adjusted based on the patient’s response and medical condition.

Administration:
Take COVERAM 4/10 orally, once a day, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the tablet.

Interaction:
COVERAM 4/10 may interact with other medications, including:

• Diuretics or water pills, which can increase the risk of low blood pressure.

• Potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics, which may increase the risk of high potassium levels in the blood.

• Other blood pressure medications, as their combined use may cause blood pressure to drop too low.

• Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) may reduce the effectiveness of ACE inhibitors.

Always inform your healthcare provider about all medications (including over-the-counter drugs and herbal supplements) you are taking before starting COVERAM 4/10.

Contraindications:
COVERAM 4/10 should not be used in patients who:

• Are allergic to Perindopril, Amlodipine, or any other ingredient in the tablet.

• Have a history of angioedema (swelling of the deeper layers of the skin).

• Have severe liver problems or kidney disease.

• Are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, as the medication can harm an unborn baby.

Side Effects:
Common side effects include dizziness, headache, swelling in the ankles or feet, fatigue, and a dry cough. Severe side effects may include:

• Low blood pressure (hypotension)

• High potassium levels (hyperkalemia)

• Heart palpitations

• Difficulty breathing or swelling of the face, lips, or tongue (allergic reactions)

If you experience any severe side effects, seek immediate medical attention.

Pregnancy & Lactation:

• Pregnancy: COVERAM 4/10 is contraindicated during pregnancy, especially during the second and third trimesters, due to the risk of harm to the fetus.

• Lactation: It is not known whether this medication passes into breast milk. Consult a doctor before using COVERAM 4/10 while breastfeeding.
