COVERSYL 8 MG is used in the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) and heart failure. It helps relax blood vessels, making it easier for the heart to pump blood. This medication reduces the strain on the heart and helps control blood pressure, reducing the risk of complications like stroke, kidney damage, and heart attack.

Pharmacology:
COVERSYL 8 MG contains Perindopril, an ACE (angiotensin-converting enzyme) inhibitor. Perindopril blocks the enzyme that produces angiotensin II, a substance that narrows blood vessels. By inhibiting this enzyme, Perindopril helps dilate blood vessels, which lowers blood pressure and reduces the workload on the heart. It is beneficial in conditions like heart failure and hypertension as it improves blood circulation and helps prevent long-term cardiovascular complications.

Dosage:
The usual starting dose for hypertension is 4 mg to 8 mg once a day, with adjustments made by the doctor based on the patient’s condition and response to the treatment. For heart failure, the dose is often adjusted according to the patient’s needs. Always follow the prescribed dosage by your healthcare provider.

Administration:
Take COVERSYL 8 MG orally, usually once a day, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the tablet to maintain the medication’s effectiveness.

Interaction:
COVERSYL 8 MG may interact with other medications, including:

• Diuretics (water pills), which can increase the risk of low blood pressure.

• Potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics, which may cause high potassium levels (hyperkalemia).

• Other antihypertensive medications, leading to an excessive reduction in blood pressure.

• Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), which may reduce the effectiveness of ACE inhibitors.

• Lithium, as ACE inhibitors may increase lithium levels in the blood.

Contraindications:
COVERSYL 8 MG is contraindicated in patients who:

• Are allergic to Perindopril or any of its components.

• Have a history of angioedema (swelling of deeper layers of the skin).

• Are pregnant, particularly during the second and third trimesters, as it may harm the fetus.

• Have severe liver or kidney problems or narrowing of the arteries.

• Are breastfeeding (consult your doctor before using it while nursing).

Side Effects:
Common side effects include:

• Dizziness, especially when standing up quickly.

• Cough (dry).

• Fatigue or weakness.

Serious side effects may include:

• Low blood pressure (hypotension).

• High potassium levels (hyperkalemia).

• Swelling of the lips, tongue, or face (angioedema).

Pregnancy & Lactation:

• Pregnancy: COVERSYL 8 MG is contraindicated during pregnancy, particularly in the second and third trimesters, as it can cause harm to the fetus.

• Lactation: It is not known whether Perindopril passes into breast milk. Consult your healthcare provider before using this medication while breastfeeding.
