Risperidone is a selective monoaminergic antagonist with high affinity for serotonin type 2 (5HT2) and dopamine type 2 (D2) receptors. It also binds with alpha1-adrenergic receptors and, to a lesser extent, with H1 histaminergic and alpha2-adrenergic receptors.

Adults: Initially 1 mg twice daily, may be increased to 2 mg twice daily.
Dosage should be individualized based on response and tolerability.
Children (as per physician's advice): Typically lower doses.
Administration:
RISPONEX should be taken orally with or without food. It should be taken at the same time each day.
Interaction:
May interact with central nervous system depressants, antihypertensives, levodopa, and other dopamine agonists. Co-administration with CYP2D6 inhibitors may increase Risperidone levels.
