Indications:
VITANERV 500 MG is indicated for the treatment and prevention of thiamine (Vitamin B1) deficiency, alcoholic neuritis, peripheral neuropathy, beriberi, and as supportive therapy in neurological disorders.

Pharmacology:
Thiamine (Vitamin B1) is a water-soluble vitamin essential for carbohydrate metabolism and proper nerve function. It acts as a coenzyme in the decarboxylation of alpha-keto acids and in the hexose monophosphate shunt. Thiamine deficiency impairs nerve conduction and muscle function, which can be restored with supplementation.

Dosage:
Adult dose: 100–500 mg per day depending on severity of deficiency.
Higher doses may be required in acute deficiency or chronic alcoholism.
Dosage should be individualized as per physician’s advice.

Administration:
To be taken orally, preferably after meals.
May also be administered parenterally in severe deficiency (as per physician).

Interaction:
May interact with certain diuretics (e.g. furosemide), which can increase urinary excretion of thiamine. Long-term use of oral contraceptives may reduce vitamin B1 levels.

Contraindications:

• Known hypersensitivity to thiamine or any component of the formulation

• Not indicated for patients with hereditary problems of galactose intolerance (if excipients contain lactose)

Side Effects:
Generally well-tolerated.
Rarely: Allergic reactions (rash, itching), gastrointestinal upset, or injection site reactions (for injectable form).

Pregnancy & Lactation:
Considered safe during pregnancy and lactation when used at recommended doses. High doses should be used only under medical supervision.

Precautions & Warnings:
Use with caution in patients with known allergies.
Do not exceed recommended dose unless advised by a physician.
Store out of reach of children.
