Indications:
Creston 10mg Tablet is indicated for:
Reducing elevated levels of cholesterol and triglycerides (hyperlipidemia)
Preventing cardiovascular diseases such as heart attack and stroke
Managing familial hypercholesterolemia
Pharmacology:
Rosuvastatin, the active component, is a selective HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin). It works by reducing cholesterol synthesis in the liver and increasing the clearance of LDL (bad cholesterol) from the blood.
Dosage and Administration:
Dosage: The usual starting dose is 5-10mg once daily, adjusted up to 40mg based on patient response and medical advice.
Administration: Take orally, with or without food. Preferably at the same time each day.
Interaction:
Avoid concomitant use with cyclosporine, fibrates, or anticoagulants to reduce the risk of adverse effects.
Alcohol may enhance liver enzyme elevation; avoid excessive consumption.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Rosuvastatin or any of its components.
Active liver disease or persistent unexplained elevations in liver enzymes.
Pregnancy and lactation.
Side Effects:
Common: Muscle pain, headache, nausea, and abdominal discomfort.
Rare: Rhabdomyolysis, liver enzyme abnormalities, or hypersensitivity reactions.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Pregnancy: Contraindicated due to potential harm to the fetus.
Lactation: Avoid use as the drug may pass into breast milk.
Precautions & Warnings:
Regularly monitor liver function and lipid levels during treatment.
Discontinue if muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness develops, particularly with elevated creatine kinase levels.
