Indications:
Finorex is indicated for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) to improve symptoms such as urinary retention and flow.
Pharmacology:
Finasteride is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor that prevents the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), leading to decreased prostate volume.
Dosage & Administration:
The usual dose is 5-10 mg once daily, with or without food. Dose adjustment should be as per physician’s advice.
Interaction:
May interact with other hormonal therapies. Use caution when combined with alpha-blockers.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Finasteride or pregnant women (can cause fetal harm).
Side Effects:
May cause decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, and breast tenderness. Rarely, allergic reactions or depression may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Contraindicated in pregnant women. Women of childbearing age should avoid handling crushed or broken tablets.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels regularly. Use with caution in patients with liver impairment.
