Lubigut 8 contains Lubiprostone 8 mg, a chloride channel activator used for the treatment of chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC), opioid-induced constipation (OIC), and irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C) in adults.
Lubiprostone works by directly activating ClC-2 chloride channels on the apical side of the intestinal epithelium, increasing fluid secretion in the intestines and facilitating bowel movement without significant changes in electrolyte balance.
