GLIMICRON MR 30 MG is indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control when diet and exercise alone are insufficient.
Pharmacology:
GLIMICRON MR contains Glimepiride, a sulfonylurea class drug that stimulates pancreatic beta cells to release insulin and enhances peripheral glucose uptake, thereby lowering blood glucose levels.
Dosage:
The typical starting dose is 1-2 mg once daily with breakfast, which can be adjusted up to 8 mg daily based on blood glucose response and tolerance. MR (Modified Release) formulation provides a sustained effect.
Administration:
Take GLIMICRON MR 30 MG orally once daily with breakfast or the first main meal. Do not crush or chew the tablet. Follow the prescribing doctor’s instructions carefully.
Interaction:
May interact with other antidiabetic drugs, beta-blockers, diuretics, corticosteroids, and alcohol. Inform your healthcare provider of all medications and supplements you are using.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe renal or hepatic impairment, or known hypersensitivity to Glimepiride.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), dizziness, headache, nausea, and weight gain. Severe hypoglycemia requires immediate medical attention.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
