GLIMICRON MR 60 MG is indicated for managing type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control when diet and exercise alone are insufficient.
Pharmacology:
GLIMICRON MR contains Glimepiride, a sulfonylurea that stimulates pancreatic beta cells to release insulin and increases peripheral glucose uptake, thereby lowering blood glucose levels effectively. The Modified Release (MR) formulation provides a sustained glucose-lowering effect over 24 hours.
Dosage:
Dosage depends on patient condition and response; typically starts at 1-2 mg once daily, adjustable up to 8 mg daily. The 60 mg dose should be taken as prescribed by the doctor. (Note: 60 mg is unusually high; usually, Glimepiride doses max out at 8 mg daily. Please verify dose with your healthcare provider.)
Administration:
Take GLIMICRON MR 60 MG orally once daily with breakfast or the first main meal. Do not crush or chew the tablet. Follow doctor's directions strictly.
Interaction:
May interact with other antidiabetic drugs, beta-blockers, diuretics, corticosteroids, and alcohol. Inform your healthcare provider about all medicines being taken.
Contraindications:
Not for use in type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe kidney or liver disease, or if allergic to Glimepiride.
Side Effects:
Possible side effects include hypoglycemia, dizziness, headache, nausea, and weight gain. Severe hypoglycemia needs urgent medical care.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless prescribed by a healthcare professional.
Therapeutic Class:
Sulfonylurea oral hypoglycemic agent.
Storage Conditions:
Store at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after expiry.
Important Note:
Standard Glimepiride doses typically range from 1 mg to 8 mg daily. A 60 mg dose is unusually high and may be a labeling or product-specific variation. Please consult a healthcare professional for confirmation and safe use.
