LINALIT 5 MG is indicated for the treatment and maintenance of bipolar disorder, helping to prevent manic and depressive episodes and stabilize mood.
Pharmacology:
LINALIT contains Lithium Carbonate, which alters sodium transport in nerve and muscle cells and affects neurotransmitter balance. It helps stabilize mood by modulating neuronal excitability and neurotransmitter release.
Dosage:
Dosage is individualized based on blood lithium levels and clinical response. Typically starts at 300 mg to 600 mg daily in divided doses, adjusted to maintain therapeutic blood levels (0.6-1.2 mEq/L).
Administration:
Take LINALIT 5 MG orally with water, preferably after meals to reduce gastrointestinal irritation. Regular blood tests are necessary to monitor lithium levels.
Interaction:
May interact with diuretics, NSAIDs, ACE inhibitors, and other medications affecting renal function or lithium levels. Inform your healthcare provider of all medications.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in severe renal or cardiovascular disease, dehydration, and hypersensitivity to lithium.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include tremors, increased thirst, frequent urination, nausea, and diarrhea. Serious effects include lithium toxicity with symptoms like confusion, ataxia, and severe tremors.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed and under strict medical supervision. Lithium passes into breast milk; breastfeeding is generally not recommended during treatment.
Therapeutic Class:
Mood stabilizer, lithium salt.
Storage Conditions:
Store LINALIT 5 MG at room temperature away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after expiration date.
