Indications:
Calcium deficiency

Increased calcium need during pregnancy, lactation, or growth spurts

Pharmacology:
Calcium Carbonate provides elemental calcium which is essential for normal functioning of nerves, cells, muscles, and bone. When dietary intake is insufficient, supplementation helps maintain adequate levels, especially for bone mineralization.
Dosage:
Adults: 1–2 tablets daily or as directed by a physician
Maximum daily dose: Should not exceed 2500 mg of elemental calcium unless prescribed
Administration:
Best taken with meals for improved absorption
Swallow whole with water
Avoid taking with iron supplements or high-oxalate foods at the same time
Interaction:
May interfere with absorption of iron, zinc, magnesium, tetracycline, and fluoroquinolone antibiotics
Use with caution in patients on cardiac glycosides (e.g., digoxin)
Contraindications:
Hypercalcemia (high blood calcium level)
Hyperparathyroidism
Severe renal impairment
Kidney stones (calcium-containing)
Side Effects:
Constipation
Gas or bloating
Rarely, hypercalcemia with long-term high doses
Nausea or abdominal discomfort in some patients
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Safe in recommended doses during pregnancy and breastfeeding
Consult a physician before prolonged use
Precautions & Warnings:
Avoid high doses without medical supervision
Regular monitoring may be needed in elderly or those with kidney issues
Maintain hydration to prevent kidney stones
