Indications:
Used to prevent and treat infections in minor cuts, wounds, burns, abrasions, and skin infections.
Pharmacology:
Contains povidone-iodine which releases free iodine slowly to kill bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa by oxidizing their cell structures.
Dosage:
Apply 1–2 times daily on the affected area or as directed by a physician.
Administration:
Clean the affected area and apply a thin layer of ointment. Cover with a sterile dressing if needed.
Interaction:
Avoid use with other antiseptics (e.g., mercury or hydrogen peroxide) as it may reduce effectiveness.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to iodine or povidone-iodine
Thyroid disorders (especially hyperthyroidism)
Not recommended for newborns
Side Effects:
Local irritation, rash, itching, or rare allergic reactions may occur. Long-term use may affect thyroid function.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use with caution during pregnancy and breastfeeding; consult a physician before use.
Precautions & Warnings:
For external use only
Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes
Do not use on large, open, or deep wounds without medical supervision
