Indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe pain requiring continuous, long-acting pain relief.
Tramadol hydrochloride is a centrally acting synthetic opioid analgesic that binds to µ-opioid receptors and inhibits the reuptake of norepinephrine and serotonin, modifying pain perception.
The usual adult dose is 35 mg twice daily or as directed by the physician. Dosage adjustments may be necessary based on patient response.
Administer orally with or without food. The tablet should be swallowed whole and not crushed or chewed to maintain sustained-release properties.
May interact with CNS depressants, MAO inhibitors, SSRIs, tricyclic antidepressants, and other drugs that lower seizure threshold.
Contraindicated in patients allergic to Tramadol or with acute intoxication with alcohol, hypnotics, opioids, or psychotropic drugs. Avoid in uncontrolled epilepsy.
Common: Dizziness, nausea, constipation, headache, drowsiness.
Serious: Seizures, respiratory depression, serotonin syndrome.
Use only if benefits outweigh risks during pregnancy. Excreted in breast milk; avoid breastfeeding or consult physician.
Use with caution in patients with respiratory impairment, history of substance abuse, or risk of seizures. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery.
