MOVICOL contains macrogol (polyethylene glycol), electrolytes like sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, and potassium chloride. It works by retaining water in the stool through osmosis, softening the stool and increasing bowel movement frequency.
Adults and children over 12 years: Usually one sachet (13.81g) dissolved in water once or twice daily.
Dosage may be adjusted based on response and doctor’s advice.
Dissolve the contents of one sachet in approximately 125 ml of water.
Stir well and drink immediately.
May reduce absorption of some medications if taken simultaneously; space doses by at least 2 hours.
No significant interactions with most drugs.
Known hypersensitivity to any ingredients
Intestinal obstruction or perforation
Severe inflammatory bowel disease
Bloating, flatulence, and abdominal discomfort
Diarrhea in case of overdose
Allergic reactions (rare)
Considered safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding but consult a doctor before use.
Use with caution in patients with renal impairment or electrolyte imbalance.
Not suitable for sudden severe abdominal pain without medical evaluation.
Osmotic laxative
Store in a dry place at room temperature, away from moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
