Nitroglycerin is a nitrate vasodilator that converts to nitric oxide, which activates guanylate cyclase and increases cGMP in smooth muscle, causing relaxation of vascular smooth muscles and reducing myocardial oxygen demand.
One tablet (6.4 mg) 1 to 2 times daily, or as directed by a physician. Dose should be adjusted based on clinical response and patient tolerance.
Should be taken orally with water. Do not chew or crush the tablet. Administer at consistent times each day for optimal effect.
Strong interaction with PDE5 inhibitors (e.g., sildenafil, tadalafil) causing life-threatening hypotension. Use with caution when combined with beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers, or alcohol.
Hypersensitivity to nitrates, severe anemia, closed-angle glaucoma, hypotension, increased intracranial pressure, recent use of erectile dysfunction drugs.
Very common: Headache.
Common: Dizziness, flushing, palpitations, and hypotension.
Rare: Nausea, rash, and weakness.
Should be used during pregnancy only if clearly indicated. Caution is recommended while breastfeeding due to unknown excretion in breast milk.
Avoid abrupt withdrawal to prevent angina rebound. Monitor blood pressure regularly. Patients with dehydration or volume depletion should use cautiously.

Store in a cool, dry place below 25°C. Keep away from light, moisture, and out of children’s reach. Avoid freezing.
