Indications:
Ezylife 10 mg Tablet is indicated for:
Relief of constipation
Bowel evacuation before diagnostic procedures (e.g., colonoscopy)
Pharmacology:
Sodium Picosulfate is a stimulant laxative that works by stimulating the muscles of the colon, promoting bowel movements. It also increases water content in the stool, making it softer and easier to pass.
Dosage & Administration:
Constipation:
Adults and children over 10 years: 5–10 mg once daily, preferably at bedtime.
Children aged 4–10 years: 2.5–5 mg once daily, preferably at bedtime.
Bowel Preparation:
Adults: 10 mg in the morning and 10 mg in the afternoon on the day before the examination, often combined with magnesium citrate.
Children: Dosage based on body weight, as prescribed by a healthcare provider.
Interaction:
May interact with diuretics or corticosteroids, increasing the risk of electrolyte imbalances.
Concurrent use with other laxatives may enhance effects.
Antacids or antibiotics may reduce efficacy; administer Ezylife 2 hours apart from these medications.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Sodium Picosulfate or any component of the tablet.
Severe dehydration or electrolyte disturbances.
Gastrointestinal conditions such as appendicitis, intestinal obstruction, or inflammatory bowel disease.
Side Effects:
Common: Abdominal cramps, diarrhea, nausea.
Less common: Dizziness, headache, dehydration.
Rare: Electrolyte imbalances, especially with prolonged use.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed; consult a healthcare provider.
Excreted in breast milk; use with caution during breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings:
Not recommended for long-term use.
Monitor for signs of dehydration or electrolyte imbalances.
Use with caution in patients with kidney or heart conditions.
