Gavicool 10 ml oral suspension, manufactured by Pharmasia Limited, is a combination of two antacids—Calcium Carbonate and Sodium Bicarbonate—and an alginate, Sodium Alginate. This formulation provides dual-action relief for conditions associated with gastric reflux. Upon ingestion, Sodium Alginate reacts with gastric acid to form a protective gel-like barrier (raft) that floats on the stomach contents, effectively preventing acid from refluxing into the esophagus. Concurrently, Calcium Carbonate and Sodium Bicarbonate neutralize excess stomach acid, alleviating symptoms such as heartburn, indigestion, and flatulence. Gavicool is indicated for the relief of gastric reflux, heartburn, indigestion, flatulence associated with gastric reflux, and heartburn during pregnancy. It is available in 10 ml sachets, with a typical adult dosage of 10-20 ml after meals and at bedtime, up to four times daily. Children under 6 years should not use this product. Common side effects may include nausea, constipation, diarrhea, or headache. If symptoms persist beyond seven days, medical consultation is advised
