Description
Fuxtil CV 250 mg Tablet is a combination antibiotic medication manufactured by Pharmasia Limited. It contains Cefuroxime Axetil, a second-generation cephalosporin, and Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor. This combination enhances the efficacy of Cefuroxime by protecting it from degradation by beta-lactamase enzymes produced by certain bacteria. Fuxtil CV is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections, including pharyngitis, tonsillitis, acute otitis media, acute bacterial maxillary sinusitis, lower respiratory tract infections, uncomplicated skin and skin-structure infections, uncomplicated urinary tract infections, and community-acquired pneumonia. The typical adult dosage is 250 mg of Cefuroxime Axetil and 62.5 mg of Clavulanic Acid, administered twice daily for 5 to 10 days, depending on the specific infection being treated. It is essential to complete the full course of therapy as prescribed to prevent the development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, and allergic reactions. Patients should inform their healthcare provider of any known allergies to cephalosporins or penicillins before starting treatment.
