Description
Prestonrin 5 mg is a medication containing rosuvastatin calcium, a potent statin used to manage dyslipidemia and reduce cardiovascular risk. It functions as a selective and competitive inhibitor of the HMG-CoA reductase enzyme, which plays a crucial role in cholesterol biosynthesis. By inhibiting this enzyme, rosuvastatin effectively lowers low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), total cholesterol, and triglyceride levels, while increasing high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C). This lipid-modifying effect helps in the primary and secondary prevention of atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases, including coronary artery disease.
