Lumilac 10 gm cream, manufactured by Pharmasia Limited, contains Luliconazole at a concentration of 1%. Luliconazole is a topical antifungal agent belonging to the azole class. It exerts its effect by inhibiting the enzyme lanosterol demethylase, leading to a reduction in ergosterol synthesis, a vital component of the fungal cell membrane. This disruption results in the death of the fungal cells. Lumilac is indicated for the treatment of superficial fungal infections such as tinea pedis (athlete’s foot), tinea cruris (jock itch), and tinea corporis (ringworm), primarily caused by dermatophytes like Trichophyton rubrum and Epidermophyton floccosum. The recommended application involves applying a thin layer of the cream to the affected area and approximately 1 inch of the surrounding skin once daily. For tinea pedis, the treatment duration is typically two weeks; for tinea cruris and tinea corporis, one week is usually sufficient. Common side effects are rare but may include skin irritation or contact dermatitis. Caution is advised during pregnancy and lactation due to limited data. Lumilac is for external use only and should not be applied to mucous membranes or broken skin
