Description
Nabumet 500 mg is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) containing nabumetone, manufactured by Eskayef Pharmaceuticals Ltd. It is primarily used to alleviate pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Nabumet works by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins, substances in the body that mediate inflammation and pain. The recommended starting dose for adults is 500 mg taken once daily, preferably with food to reduce the risk of gastrointestinal irritation. Depending on the patient's response, the dose may be increased up to 1000 mg per day. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 2000 mg. Common side effects include gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, constipation, and abdominal pain, as well as dizziness and headache. Serious side effects can include gastrointestinal bleeding, liver dysfunction, and kidney impairment. Patients should be monitored regularly, especially during long-term use. Nabumet is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to nabumetone or other NSAIDs, and caution is advised in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, gastrointestinal disorders, or renal impairment. It is also not recommended during the third trimester of pregnancy.
