Indications:
Nexcital is indicated for the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

Pharmacology:
Escitalopram is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). It increases the level of serotonin in the synaptic cleft by inhibiting its reuptake into the presynaptic neuron, improving mood and reducing anxiety symptoms. It has high selectivity for the serotonin transporter with minimal effects on norepinephrine or dopamine systems.

Dosage & Administration:
The recommended dose is 10 mg once daily, which may be increased to a maximum of 20 mg per day based on patient response and tolerance. It can be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day.

Interaction:
May interact with MAO inhibitors, other SSRIs, NSAIDs (increased bleeding risk), alcohol, and drugs that prolong QT interval. Careful dose adjustment and monitoring are advised when co-administered with serotonergic agents.

Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Escitalopram or citalopram. Not to be used with MAO inhibitors or within 14 days of discontinuing them.

Side Effects:
Common side effects include nausea, insomnia, fatigue, dry mouth, dizziness, and increased sweating. Serious side effects may include suicidal thoughts (especially in young adults), serotonin syndrome, and QT prolongation.

Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use during pregnancy should be based on risk-benefit assessment by the physician. Caution is advised during lactation as the drug may pass into breast milk.

Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor patients for worsening depression or suicidal thoughts. Use caution in patients with liver or kidney impairment, seizure disorders, or those on anticoagulants. Avoid abrupt discontinuation to prevent withdrawal symptoms.
