Indications:
NEXCITAL is indicated for:

Major depressive disorder
-
Generalized anxiety disorder
-
Panic disorder and social anxiety disorder
Pharmacology:
Escitalopram selectively inhibits serotonin reuptake in the brain, enhancing serotonergic neurotransmission and improving mood and anxiety symptoms.
Dosage & Administration:
-
Adults: Typically 10 mg once daily; can be adjusted between 5-20 mg based on response.

Take with or without food, preferably at the same time daily.
Interaction:
-
May interact with MAO inhibitors, other SSRIs, triptans, and anticoagulants.

Risk of serotonin syndrome with certain drug combinations.
Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to Escitalopram or SSRIs

Concomitant use with MAO inhibitors

Known QT prolongation or arrhythmias
Side Effects:

Nausea, headache, insomnia, fatigue

Sexual dysfunction, dry mouth

Rare but serious: serotonin syndrome, suicidal ideation
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed; consult healthcare provider before use.
Precautions & Warnings:

Monitor for worsening depression or suicidal thoughts

Avoid abrupt discontinuation

Use cautiously in patients with hepatic impairment
