Indications:
Uromax is indicated for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) symptoms including difficulty in urination, incomplete bladder emptying, and urinary retention.
Pharmacology:
Uromax contains Tamsulosin, a selective alpha-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist that relaxes smooth muscles in the bladder neck and prostate, improving urine flow.
Dosage & Administration:
Typical dose: 0.4 mg once daily, usually taken 30 minutes after the same meal each day.
Tablets should be swallowed whole with water.
Interaction:
May interact with other alpha-blockers, antihypertensives, and PDE-5 inhibitors. Monitor blood pressure for hypotension.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Tamsulosin or any component of the formulation. Use cautiously in patients with severe liver or kidney impairment.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include dizziness, headache, abnormal ejaculation, and fatigue. Rarely, hypotension and palpitations may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Not indicated for use in women, including during pregnancy or lactation.
Precautions & Warnings:
Use with caution in patients prone to hypotension or those undergoing cataract surgery due to risk of intraoperative floppy iris syndrome.
Therapeutic Class:
Alpha-1 adrenergic receptor blockers.
Storage Conditions:
Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
