Ambroxol is a metabolite of Bromhexine and possesses mucokinetic and secretolytic properties. It enhances mucus transport and reduces its viscosity, facilitating expectoration and easing breathing. Additionally, Ambroxol stimulates the production of surfactant phospholipids in alveolar cells, contributing to reduced surface tension in the alveoli and improving airway patency.
