Indications:
Olmedip is indicated for:
Treatment of essential hypertension, especially when monotherapy is insufficient
Reducing the risk of stroke, heart attack, and kidney complications associated with high blood pressure
Pharmacology:
Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that inhibits calcium ion influx into vascular smooth muscle, causing vasodilation and lowering blood pressure.
Olmesartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that prevents vasoconstriction and lowers aldosterone levels, helping reduce blood pressure and cardiovascular strain.
Dosage & Administration:
Adults: One tablet once daily.
Can be taken with or without food.
Dosage adjustments should be made based on clinical response.
Not intended for initial therapy unless the patient is already stabilized on both ingredients.
Interaction:
May interact with potassium supplements, NSAIDs, lithium, and other antihypertensive drugs.
Combining with diuretics may enhance hypotensive effects.
Use caution with CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., clarithromycin, diltiazem).
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Amlodipine, Olmesartan, or any excipients
Pregnancy
Severe hepatic impairment
Bilateral renal artery stenosis
Side Effects:
Common: Dizziness, peripheral edema, headache, fatigue, hypotension.
Rare: Hyperkalemia, renal dysfunction, allergic reactions.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Contraindicated in pregnancy. Use during lactation only under physician supervision.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor blood pressure, renal function, and electrolytes regularly.
Use with caution in patients with heart failure, renal or hepatic impairment.
Avoid abrupt withdrawal.
