CANVO 200MG Tablet is indicated for:
Treatment of invasive aspergillosis.
Management of severe candidiasis, including esophageal and systemic candidiasis.
Infections caused by Scedosporium spp. and Fusarium spp. in patients with limited alternatives.
Voriconazole is a triazole antifungal agent that inhibits fungal cytochrome P450 enzymes, blocking ergosterol synthesis, an essential component of fungal cell membranes. This leads to fungal cell death and clearance of infection.
Loading Dose: 400 mg every 12 hours for the first 24 hours.
Maintenance Dose: 200 mg every 12 hours.
Adjust dosage for hepatic impairment or patient weight as necessary.
Administer 1 hour before or 1 hour after meals.
Avoid co-administration with drugs metabolized by CYP450 enzymes such as rifampin, carbamazepine, or phenobarbital.
May interact with anticoagulants, increasing bleeding risk.
Monitor for interactions with statins, calcium channel blockers, and immunosuppressants.
Hypersensitivity to Voriconazole or any of its components.
Concurrent use with specific medications like sirolimus, long-acting barbiturates, or ergot alkaloids.
Common: Visual disturbances, nausea, vomiting, rash.
Rare: Hepatotoxicity, QT prolongation, severe skin reactions.
Not recommended during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary.
Use caution during lactation; consult a healthcare provider.
Regularly monitor liver function and kidney function during therapy.
Use with caution in patients with cardiac arrhythmias or electrolyte disturbances.
Protect skin from sunlight during treatment as photosensitivity may occur.
