UDILIVA 300 MG Tablet is indicated for:
Dissolution of cholesterol gallstones in patients who cannot undergo surgery.
Treatment of primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC).
Management of cholestatic liver diseases.
The active ingredient, Ursodeoxycholic Acid (UDCA), is a hydrophilic bile acid that reduces the cholesterol saturation of bile. It disperses cholesterol into micelles and improves bile flow, preventing gallstone formation and aiding in liver protection.
Dosage: 300 mg 2-3 times daily or as prescribed by a physician, depending on the condition being treated.
Administration: Take orally with food to enhance absorption.
Avoid concomitant use with cholestyramine, colestipol, or antacids containing aluminum as they reduce the absorption of UDCA.
May interact with estrogen-containing drugs, which can reduce the efficacy of gallstone dissolution.
Acute cholecystitis or biliary obstruction.
Hypersensitivity to ursodeoxycholic acid.
Common: Diarrhea, abdominal pain, and nausea.
Rare: Allergic reactions, elevated liver enzymes, or calcification of gallstones.
Should only be used during pregnancy if clearly needed.
Consult a physician before use while breastfeeding.
Regular monitoring of liver function is recommended during treatment.
Not effective for pigmented gallstones or patients with non-functional gallbladder.
