Indications:
Siloflo is indicated for the treatment of symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) including difficulty in urination and urinary retention.
Pharmacology:
Silodosin is a selective alpha-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist that relaxes smooth muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, improving urine flow.
Dosage & Administration:
The usual dose is 8 mg once daily, taken with a meal. Dose adjustments should be made according to patient response.
Interaction:
May interact with antihypertensives, CYP3A4 inhibitors, and other alpha-blockers.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Silodosin or severe hepatic impairment.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include dizziness, retrograde ejaculation, nasal congestion, and orthostatic hypotension.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Not applicable as this medication is for male patients only.
Precautions & Warnings:
Use with caution in patients with low blood pressure or kidney impairment. Monitor blood pressure regularly.
