Indications:
Treatment of bacterial infections including respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, ear infections, and sexually transmitted infections.
Pharmacology:
Azithromycin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, effectively stopping bacterial growth.
Dosage:
Usually 500 mg once daily for 3 to 5 days or as directed by the physician.
Administration:
Orally, with or without food.
Interaction:
May interact with antacids, warfarin, and other antibiotics.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to azithromycin or other macrolide antibiotics.
