Indications:
Used for relief of pain and inflammation in osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and acute gouty arthritis.
Pharmacology:
Etoricoxib selectively inhibits cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme, decreasing prostaglandin synthesis responsible for inflammation and pain, with fewer gastrointestinal side effects than traditional NSAIDs.
Dosage:
5 mg once daily or as prescribed by the physician based on patient condition.
Administration:
Oral administration, preferably with food to minimize gastrointestinal irritation.
Interaction:
Caution with anticoagulants, ACE inhibitors, diuretics, and other NSAIDs.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Etoricoxib or other NSAIDs, active peptic ulcer, severe heart failure, and post-coronary artery bypass surgery.
Side Effects:
May cause headache, dizziness, gastrointestinal discomfort, hypertension, or edema.
