Long Description:
Indications:
Used for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD) to improve mood and emotional state.
Pharmacology:
Vilazodone acts as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) and partial serotonin receptor agonist, increasing serotonin levels in the brain.
Dosage:
Typical dose is 10-40 mg once daily, adjusted by the physician according to patient response.
Administration:
Administer orally, with or without food. Take consistently at the same time each day.
Interaction:
May interact with other antidepressants, MAO inhibitors, and certain medications affecting serotonin. Avoid concomitant use with MAO inhibitors.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Vilazodone or any ingredients. Use with caution in patients with seizure disorders.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, insomnia, and dry mouth.
