Long Description:
Indications:
Indicated for maintenance treatment and prevention of bronchospasm in patients with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Pharmacology:
Fluticasone propionate is a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation in the airways. Formoterol fumarate is a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist that relaxes bronchial muscles, improving airflow.
Dosage:
Typically prescribed as 1-2 inhalations twice daily. Dosage should be individualized based on disease severity and patient response.
Administration:
Administer via oral inhalation. Shake the inhaler well before use. Patients should rinse their mouth after inhalation to prevent oral candidiasis.
Interaction:
May interact with beta-blockers, other corticosteroids, diuretics, and certain antifungal or antiviral medications. Disclose all medications to healthcare provider.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Fluticasone, Formoterol, or any excipients. Not for relief of acute bronchospasm or status asthmaticus.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include oral thrush, hoarseness, cough, headache, tremor, and increased heart rate.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if benefits outweigh risks. Consult healthcare provider before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings:
Not intended for immediate relief of acute bronchospasm. Monitor for paradoxical bronchospasm and systemic corticosteroid effects.
