Indications:
Used in children for the relief of symptoms associated with seasonal allergic rhinitis including sneezing, rhinorrhea, and itchy or watery eyes.
Pharmacology:
Fexofenadine is a second-generation selective H1-receptor antagonist that blocks histamine action without sedative effects, making it suitable for children.
Dosage:
Children 2–11 years: 30 mg (5 ml) twice daily or as directed by a physician.
Administration:
Oral administration. Can be taken with or without food. Shake well before use.
Interaction:
May interact with antacids (aluminum/magnesium), erythromycin, or ketoconazole. Fruit juices may reduce absorption.
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to fexofenadine or any ingredients of the formulation.
Side Effects:
Mild side effects may include headache, drowsiness, or gastrointestinal discomfort.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Not applicable for children; to be administered under parental supervision only.
Precautions & Warnings:
Use with caution in children with renal impairment. Avoid giving with fruit juices.
