Description
Caprogen is a synthetic progestin medication containing 250 mg of hydroxyprogesterone caproate per milliliter. It is used to reduce the risk of preterm labor in women with a history of spontaneous preterm birth. The injection is typically administered intramuscularly (IM) once a week starting from the 16th to 20th week of pregnancy until 37 weeks or the onset of labor. Caprogen works by stabilizing the uterine lining and preventing early contractions, which helps in prolonging pregnancy and reducing the risk of premature delivery.
