ELISA 3 mg/0.02 mg is a combined oral contraceptive pill that contains two active ingredients: drospirenone (3 mg) and ethinylestradiol (0.02 mg). It is primarily used to prevent pregnancy. Drospirenone is a synthetic progestin, while ethinylestradiol is a synthetic estrogen. Together, they work by inhibiting ovulation, altering the cervical mucus to make it harder for sperm to reach the uterus, and changing the uterine lining to prevent attachment of a fertilized egg. In addition to contraception, ELISA may also help regulate menstrual cycles, reduce menstrual cramps, and manage symptoms of hormonal imbalance such as acne or premenstrual syndrome. It should be taken once daily at the same time each day for maximum effectiveness.
