Thyronor 75 mcg is indicated for:
Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid)
Congenital or acquired hypothyroidism
Goiter (thyroid enlargement)
Thyroid hormone suppression therapy in thyroid cancer
Levothyroxine is a synthetic form of thyroxine (T4), which is converted in the body to the active form triiodothyronine (T3). It regulates metabolism, growth, and development by acting on the body's cells similar to natural thyroid hormone.
Dose is individualized based on TSH levels, age, weight, and clinical condition
Typical starting dose: 25–75 mcg/day, adjusted every 4–6 weeks
For adults with hypothyroidism: 75 mcg may be a maintenance dose
Take orally on an empty stomach, ideally 30–60 minutes before breakfast with a full glass of water. Do not take with calcium or iron supplements simultaneously.
Absorption decreased by calcium, iron, antacids, soy products
May enhance effects of warfarin
Interacts with anti-diabetic drugs, beta-blockers, estrogens
Untreated thyrotoxicosis
Acute myocardial infarction
Adrenal insufficiency not corrected with corticosteroid
(Usually from overdose)
Palpitations
Weight loss
Heat intolerance
Anxiety, insomnia
Menstrual irregularities
Safe during pregnancy; dose may require adjustment
Safe during lactation; does not harm the infant
Regular monitoring of TSH & T4 levels essential
Do not stop abruptly
Adjust dose in elderly or cardiac patients cautiously
Avoid switching between brands unless advised
