Description
Valestra 2 mg Tablet contains the active ingredient Estradiol Valerate, a synthetic form of the naturally occurring female sex hormone estrogen. It is primarily used in hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to alleviate symptoms associated with menopause, such as hot flashes, night sweats, and vaginal dryness. Additionally, it serves to prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women at high risk of fractures. Estradiol Valerate works by replenishing estrogen levels, thereby mitigating menopausal symptoms and supporting bone health. The typical dosage is 2 mg taken orally once daily, with continuous treatment recommended. For women with an intact uterus, a progestogen is usually added for at least 12–14 days each month to prevent endometrial hyperplasia. Common side effects may include breast tenderness, headache, nausea, and vaginal bleeding. It is contraindicated in individuals with a history of breast cancer, endometrial cancer, undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, or thromboembolic disorders.
