Description
Visceralgine 5 mg/2 ml Injection is an antispasmodic medication containing Tiemonium Methylsulphate. It functions as a mixed antispasmodic agent with musculotropic and anticholinergic properties. By inhibiting acetylcholine and histamine receptors, it reduces smooth muscle contractions in the gastrointestinal tract, biliary system, urinary bladder, and uterus, thereby alleviating pain and spasms associated with various conditions. This medication is commonly used to treat symptoms related to gastroenteritis, diarrhea, dysentery, biliary colic, enterocolitis, cholecystitis, colonopathies, mild cystitis, and spasmodic dysmenorrhea. Visceralgine is administered via intramuscular (IM) or intravenous (IV) injection, typically 1 ampoule (5 mg/2 ml) three times daily, as directed by a healthcare professional. It is contraindicated in patients with urethroprostatic disorders involving a risk of urine retention and those with angle-closure glaucoma. Caution is advised when using this medication in individuals with prostate disorders, chronic bronchitis, coronary insufficiency, hyperthermia, renal or hepatic insufficiency, or visual disturbances. While animal studies have not shown teratogenic effects, the use of Visceralgine during pregnancy and lactation should be approached with caution and under medical supervision. Common side effects may include hypotension and tachycardia. The injection should be administered slowly to minimize the risk of adverse effects. Storage should be in a cool, dry place, away from light and moisture, and out of reach of children.
