Description
Motelity 2 mg is a medication containing Prucalopride, a selective 5-HT₄ receptor agonist developed by Nuvista Pharma Ltd. It is primarily used to treat chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC) in adults who have not responded adequately to traditional laxatives. Prucalopride enhances colonic motility by stimulating the release of acetylcholine, leading to increased peristalsis and improved bowel movement frequency and consistency.
The typical dosage for adults is 2 mg once daily, which can be taken with or without food. For elderly patients or those with severe renal impairment (glomerular filtration rate <30 mL/min/1.73 m²), the starting dose is 1 mg once daily, which may be increased to 2 mg if necessary.
