Cefu CV 500mg/125mg Tablet is a prescription medication used to treat various bacterial infections. It combines two active ingredients: Cefuroxime (500mg), a cephalosporin antibiotic, and Clavulanic Acid (125mg), a beta-lactamase inhibitor. Cefuroxime works by inhibiting the formation of bacterial cell walls, leading to bacterial cell death. Clavulanic Acid enhances the effectiveness of Cefuroxime by preventing bacterial enzymes from inactivating it, thereby reducing antibiotic resistance. This combination is effective against a broad spectrum of bacteria, including those resistant to other antibiotics. Cefu CV is commonly prescribed for infections such as pharyngitis, otitis media, sinusitis, gonorrhea, Lyme disease, septicemia, meningitis, lower respiratory tract infections, skin infections, urinary tract infections, bone, and joint infections.
