Indications:
BEKLO is indicated for:
Muscle spasticity associated with multiple sclerosis
Spinal cord injuries and other neurological disorders
Relief of muscle stiffness and spasms
Pharmacology:
Baclofen is a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant. It acts by stimulating GABA-B receptors in the spinal cord, reducing excitatory neurotransmission and relaxing muscles.
Dosage & Administration:
Adults: Initially 5 mg three times daily; may gradually increase up to 80 mg/day in divided doses depending on response.
Take with food to minimize gastrointestinal upset.
Interaction:
CNS depressants (e.g., alcohol, opioids) may enhance sedative effects.
Use cautiously with antihypertensives (additive hypotensive effect).
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Baclofen
Peptic ulcer
Caution in patients with epilepsy or renal impairment
Side Effects:
Drowsiness, dizziness, weakness
Nausea, hypotension
Rare: confusion, hallucinations, seizures on abrupt withdrawal
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed under medical supervision.
Precautions & Warnings:
Avoid abrupt discontinuation—may cause withdrawal symptoms
Monitor renal function in long-term use
Use caution when driving or operating machinery
