🔸 Indications:
Xyril 10 mg is indicated for:
-
Relief of nasal congestion due to common cold, sinusitis, allergic rhinitis

Temporary improvement of nasal airway obstruction
-
Eustachian tube dysfunction
🔸 Pharmacology:
Xyril contains Xylometazoline Hydrochloride, a topical sympathomimetic agent that stimulates alpha-adrenergic receptors causing vasoconstriction in nasal mucosa, reducing swelling and congestion.
🔸 Dosage:
-
Adults and children over 12 years: 1-2 sprays in each nostril every 8-12 hours as needed
-
Do not exceed 3 consecutive days of use to avoid rebound congestion
🔸 Administration:
Administer as nasal spray by spraying into each nostril while inhaling gently.
🔸 Interaction:

Caution with other sympathomimetic drugs or monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs)

Avoid use with systemic decongestants to prevent hypertension
🔸 Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to Xylometazoline or formulation components

Patients with narrow-angle glaucoma or severe hypertension
-
Avoid in children under 6 years without medical advice

Rebound nasal congestion if overused

Rare: headaches, increased blood pressure
